Musculoskeletal Radiologists

Dr David Bailey  MBBS FRCR

Dr David Bailey is a consultant radiologist, working mainly at the North Hampshire Hospital and also providing services at the Hampshire Clinic.

 

He obtained his medical degree from the University of London (St Mary’s Medical School) in 1986. Whilst he was a medical student he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps. Post full registration he attended the Royal Army Medical College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Following 2 years as a Regimental Medical Officer he was seconded by the Army to train in Radiology at Kings College Hospital, London, for 4 years. He was then appointed the Orthopaedic Research Fellow at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, for a year, where he developed his interest in musculoskeletal imaging.

 

Having served a total of 17 years in the Army Medical Service (including 7 years as a Consultant Radiologist and Head of Army Radiology) he joined the Radiology team at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Foundation Trust (BNHFT) in 2001.

 

Following his arrival at BNHFT he consolidated and further enhanced his interest in musculoskeletal imaging and set up the interventional musculoskeletal service and further developed musculoskeletal imaging with reference to CT and MRI.

 

Musculoskeletal Radiology is the use of a wide variety of radiological equipment, such as scanners or X-ray image intensifiers, to identify the pathology of bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and soft tissues.

 

Dr Bailey provides a variety of interventional services aimed at diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. These include:

 

1.    CT and MRI arthrography

2.    Hydrodilatation of the shoulder

3.    Calcium barbotage of the shoulder

4.    Ultrasound / flouroscopic guided joint injections

5.    Ultrasound / flouroscopic tendon injections

 

He provides a comprehensive imaging service for all Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Sports Medicine related pathology.

 

Dr Jonathan Brant MA MB BChir MRCP FRCR

Dr Brant is a consultant radiologist, working mainly at the North Hampshire Hospital and also providing services at the Hampshire Clinic.

 

He gained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 1989 initially undertaking extensive training as a Physician before commencing training as a Radiologist in 1996.

 

He was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2003 and has a subspecialist interest in  Musculoskeletal imaging providing a comprehensive service for all Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Sports Medicine related pathology. His main interests are in the use of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and ultrasound scanning but he also has extensive experience in the interpretation of CT (Computed Tomography) for orthopaedic conditions, as well as for the investigation of more general medical and surgical conditions.
